Krudas Cubensi A Hybrid of Feminism and Musicality

In the time of Afrocentrism and Queer movements, Krudas Cubensi rises.
Krudas is Odaymara Cuesta and Olivia Prendes, both Cuban natives. They met in 1995 doing Stilt Theater and established Krudas in 1999.
Krudas can best be described as a movement for “womyn” (the feminist/lesbian/political variation of "woman" or “women”) within the LGBTQ community. They radiate Cuban culture and are a cultural and political voice infused with Cuban hip-hop and a dose of reality. They rap fearlessly and boldly, and their music is an eclectic mix of reggae, Cuban soul, Latin heart, and musical activism.
Prendes affirms: “Our message is about queer people, emigrants, womyn and people of color united, defending our rights. We dedicated our art to all the good people for justice, peace and for the resistance by matriarchal cultures to continue the eternal struggle to life in balance.”
