Ringing in a New Era for ignite and LGBT San Antonio!
PRIDE. The world means so much to our LGBT community around this time of year. San Antonio celebrates pride in a number of informative, fun, and inventive ways. But this month, the men and women behind ignite Magazine are experiencing a completely different type of pride. Like proud parents, we are ecstatic about the fact that this issue marks a new level of maturity for our offspring. Our baby, which you hold in your hands right now, is all grown up! We have expanded the form factor of our magazine and -thanks to our tireless layout artist, Jeremy Lunceford - redesigned the look into something fresh, fun, and modern. It’s a new era for ignite, and we’ve made some BIG improvements.
But it’s not just the fact that ignite has literally grown. What matters is that YOU have grown with us!
For over two-and-a-half years, ignite Magazine has been committed to great features, articles, and news around town. Our goal has always been to serve as a positive and edifying force for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and allied community in San Antonio. Along the way, we have evolved many times, but with this new step, we’re showcasing the talent and creativity that has always been latent in San Antonio’s LGBT community.
In addition to the aesthetic improvements we have made, we have added a brand new section that’s sure to appeal to some of you. In the back of ignite, you’ll find our nightlife section, appropriately titled ignition. Keep an eye out as that section continues to evolve each month to serve San Antonio’s bar and club scene. Fun new content will be added regularly, and there’s now a dedicated nightlife calendar for all you barflies out there. But don’t worry - ignite is first and foremost a community magazine, and we’ll still retain our family-friendly appeal and principled focus month in and month out.
Lastly, let me say thank you. Thank you to our faithful readers - those of you who read us cover-to-cover each month. Thank you to the patrons who pick up a copy at their local San Antonio Public Branch Library. Thank you to the energetic party kids who leaf through our pages as they pop by the bars for a little dance and romance. Thank you to the LGBT pioneers - the elder statesmen and women - who paved the way for the rest of us and who stay connected to our community. And thank you to our advertisers, who support us each month by making ignite a reality. Show them your thanks by supporting the businesses that support YOU.
Mil gracias San Antonio!
Together in pride,
Richard Farias, Editor
